A Disney weekend adventure!!

Ok...so i bet you were thinking this post was going to be about a trip to Disneyland...right?!  Ha ha well it isn't!  Ryan, who just happens to be a rather BIG Disney buff these days, discovered that Walt Disney's home town was right here in Missouri!!  So naturally we set out as soon as possible to explore this tiny town called Marceline where Walt Disney got most of his inspiration for his amazing ideas!

It is a VERY tiny town...I was surprised! But, it turned out to be a very neat day!  Here we are at the Walt Disney Hometown Museum! The lady who gave us the tour was in her 80's and knew Walt Disney personally!! He had stayed in her home several times!!

The building used to be the a train station.  And this is where Walt said that he gained his fascination and love of trains!!
There was some super neat Disney memorabilia, like these Mickey Mouse dolls and pictures of Walt and his family and many letters written by him and his family.
There was a lot of history about Disneyland as well as the Disney Family! It was very interesting!
The many trains that came zooming past the station were pretty neat!! My kids were fascinated! I could see how it would be easy to fall in love with trains there!
Apparently little Marceline has all the original Autopia cars and Walt had originally planned to set up the ride there!  Disney had many plans involving Marceline but died before many of them could be brought to life.
There was a tree that Walt called his "dreaming tree" where he dreamed up Mickey Mouse and all those cute characters and doodled pictures of them.  The tree has since died, but they planted a new one right where the old one stood on the Disney family farm.  And here is a branch from the original tree!
Here is a model of "It's a Small World".
Apparently, Disney got the inspiration for Main Street in Disneyland from Marceline Missouri!
It was a pretty cute and magical Main Street...
The City has since named many of its building after Walt Disney.  The Post Office...
 and even the Elementary School!!
Here's Ryan, giddy as a school boy, exploring all this fun Disney stuff!!
One of my favorite parts was going to the Disney Family Farm!! It was so beautiful!
Here's the barn where Walt and his siblings loved to play and put on plays for the neighbors!

Visitors to the barn were allowed to sign all over it and it was so neat to see all the signatures of Missionaries that had come through there!
It was a rather perfect day!!
Here is the house where Walt Disney lived.
When we are not out adventuring, we love to play in our very own magical backyard! Ryan has worked so hard to make it beautiful...and it really is a wonderful place to be!!

On another weekend adventure, we stopped in at the Dinosaur restaurant...a family favorite!
The kiddos just think it is the coolest!

With school in session, it is just Elsie and I at home.  Though she is definitely a hand full I am so glad to have her in my life!  She is so fun and full of personality!  I love having her for my sidekick! It is a full time job to keep this smart lady entertained though.  Here she is doing a little painting :) This lasted for at least 10 minutes- hahah!

We LOVE to go to the Library every Tuesday to reading time!! We sing songs, read books, make a darling craft and then...
the BUBBLES!!! Elsie loves this part!
On another occasion, Elsie spent another 10 minutes at least glueing pieces of scrap paper and making a rather neat art piece :)
What a fabulous life I have! I am one lucky lady!!  I have ALOT of catching up to do so stay tuned for more fun posts coming your way :)
